VEBA

Voluntary Employee Beneficiary Association (VEBA)

A VEBA is a health reimbursement arrangement that allows an employer to contribute money to a Trust on behalf of their employees. The funds in this account can be used to help pay for eligible medical expenses and often saved for medical expenses in retirement. Additionally, a VEBA can be structured so it can be combined with an HSA (if you have an HSA qualifying health plan) to help you save even more and provide maximum flexibility.

There are two types of VEBA offered to employees of Sequim School District.

  • General Purpose – Eligible expenses include medical, dental, vision, orthodontia, and other eligible items (see Section 213(d) of the Internal Revenue Code)
  • Limited VEBA – This account is always limited to reimburse vision and dental expenses only.
