Transportation FAQ

When will bus routes be published for the 2023-2024 school year?
Routes are being developed using transportation software to minimize route length and duration. We anticipate DRAFT routes will be developed and shared with parents via Skyward this summer.

Will bus ride times increase as a result of the Reconfiguration Plan implementation? Can additional buses be added in order to shorten ride times?
Bus ride time depends on the number of students on the bus and number of bus stops. We are working to make each route as efficient as possible while keeping ride times as short as possible.

Are bus routes going to be assigned on the school or the students' address?
Bus routes will be assigned by the students' address.

Will more buses be needed to transport students under the Reconfiguration Plan?

No. We do not need to add buses or drivers to accommodate the change to the Reconfiguration Plan.

Will elementary students ride the bus with middle and high school students?
Yes. We will continue to operate with bus ridership the same as this school year.

Will students from the same family attending different schools ride the same bus?
Yes.

Will buses be more crowded under the Reconfiguration Plan? Is it possible my student will not have a place on the bus due to capacity being reached on our bus route?
We anticipate bus ridership to be the same next year as it is this year. All students will be provided transportation.

Will efforts be made to limit the length of bus rides for special education students?
Students requiring special transportation are scheduled separately and with special consideration to minimize the length of bus rides.

Will bus stop locations change? For example, will they be consolidated in order to shorten lengths of bus rides? If so, will these stops be safe for students to get to?
Bus stops may change in order to minimize the number of overall stops, which will shorten bus rides. All stops will be reviewed by our transportation personnel to ensure student safety.

How will students be prompted to get off at the correct school?
The driver will assist students getting off the bus, Ground Control will assist students to either a Greywolf transfer bus or Helen Haller Elementary.

Will it be possible for families to drop their students off at one school and have them transported to their assigned school?
Transportation will build routes to accommodate these students.

Will practice bus runs be conducted prior to the start of school in the fall?
Before the opening of the school year, drivers practice their routes. We will continue this practice as some drivers may have new routes and stops. Be familiar with the route will be of utmost importance.

Will students cross the street to get on and off the bus?

Yes. Students have always crossed various streets to get on and off the bus and will continue to do so next school year. Any instance where a student has to cross the street next year is the same ad this year and in the past years.

Will school staff board the bus to help students exit at the appropriate school in the morning?
This will be the responsibility of the bus driver.
